The community gardens are made up of a number of sites. The primary garden is on West 3rd Street next to the Baha’i center. This is the original garden. There’s also a garden behind the civic center as well as the site where the high tunnel house is going up. All of these areas are maintained by volunteers that help with the chores while learning about gardening and producing food for various agencies in the area including Jefferson County Community Ministries and Meals on Wheels.
Volunteers include individuals and groups. One group that has been consistently helpful is the Mormon church. Yesterday they came by and finished trimming the evergreens along the north wall of the civic center.
