Join us in the Gardens each Thursday in June for our Art in the Garden Workshop.

Overview

Class meets four consecutive Thursdays in June from 11am – 1pm at the Ranson Community Gardens. Each class is made up of a short garden tour followed by a 90-minute drawing and painting workshop. The workshop will focus on plants and flowers that grow in the Gardens or surrounding area. This workshop is for our young gardener/artists ages 8 and above. Materials are provided.

About the Instructor

Ginger Haydon is a Martinsburg artist (MFA) and Master Gardener. Ginger has taught at a range of locations and skill levels including in Arlington, Virginia and Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Tuition

$50.00. Tuition includes four two-hour workshop sessions and all materials. After the final workshop, students will take their completed projects and remaining materials with them. Registration is required.

Schedule

Session 1. Learn to draw simple plant and tool shapes.

Session 2. Draw complex plant shapes adding additional details.

Session 3. Paint on paper in sketchbook diary adding new material and using favorites from the earlier sessions.

Session 4. Paint on taped canvas board which provides a visual mat of frame around the final painting.

Materials list (provided)

Sketch pencils, pens, and sketch diary. Paint brushes, paints, canvas boards, and cleaning supplies. Materials will be securely stored at the Gardens between sessions.
