Welcome to Ranson Community Gardens

background-firefly-scattered-fruit-vegetables.jpg

The mission of Ranson Community Gardens is to provide training, support, and gardening resources to the communities of Jefferson and Berkeley Counties while offering a safe, relaxing green space to gather together.

We can help you get started gardening today with supplies and advice, or you can lease garden space through our Resident Gardener program.

We offer social spaces that are outside and provide a safe environment for small gatherings and workshops. Watch our calendar and social media for a variety of fun events throughout the year.

The Gardens is here for everyone’s enjoyment. Come out, walk the Veggie Trail, then sit, relax, and enjoy the day!

Our Focus

Our key focus areas at Ranson Gardens are all about enjoying key aspects of  nature and our environment—earth, sun, and water.

EARTH

Soil is the foundation of the earth

Ranson Gardens provides garden plots for resident gardeners to plant and grow their own flowers, herbs, and produce. The high tunnel is used as a demonstration and learning space for a variety of classes and events.

SUN

The sun warms the earth

Ranson Gardens captures the rainwater from the Ranson Civic Center roof in a tank farm behind the Civic Center. We use gravity and solar pumps to supply the water needed in our high tunnel and our resident gardens.

WATER

Water is life; essential to all plants

"Water is the driving force of all nature."
-Leonardo da Vinci

Ranson Gardens is on the Evitts Run flood plain. You can explore Evitts Run by following the Nature Trail created in 2022.
